A lonely film collector editor longs for connection. He finds film tapes of a happy family, which only exist in family tapes. This makes him long to become part of the family.

After stumbling across a box of VHS tapes, Brent becomes enamored with the family depicted in it, especially the mother. He begins to edit the tapes, removing the father's presence and replacing his voice with his own. However, this tampering leads to supernatural corruption, causing the tapes to deteriorate, especially around the image of the father. Brent's editing changes the outcome of the events in the tapes, leading to disastrous consequences such as a car accident. While trying to save the footage, he becomes trapped in the world of the tapes, where the mother tells him that his actions have damned them all. Despite his pleas for forgiveness, they are consumed by the spreading corruption, ending in tragedy.

This film warns against losing yourself in fantasies based on reality, warns against dissociation, emphasizes the importance of respecting personal boundaries and emphasizes the evil of projecting your desires onto others. Brent Ermiet aka the film collector.
Brent Ermiet is a 54-year-old man, a recluse with a passion for VHS tapes. No
family, not friends. Even when he goes out for the necessities of life, he goes at night
to avoid human contact. You can't survive without social contact, so instead
so instead of finding real companionship, he tries to find it in visual media. It makes him feel safe
barrier against unpredictable real contact and still resembles a bond. But all this
changes when he finds a box of family tapes. A real connection, but still behind the
safe barrier of the digital medium.
